Okay, I realize that mentioning it here is somewhat of an announcement- but I need help with the name of a new fast-playing card game based on the combat system in our first game, Italian Campaign Intro. The premise- it's all tactical WWII combat with lots of new Unit and Command Cards and games play in 20-30 minutes. With continuous testing going on right now, I don't mind saying- it's incredibly fun and fast. Best of all, there are only about 3-4 pages of rules, so it's super easy to pick up.
Each game is basically one combat engagement- it's all card-based with just a couple of dice for randomizers- paralleling the combat system in FG:ICI, but with some additional cardplay and ability to bring in reinforcements. It can also be used as a teaching tool to learn how combat works in the larger game or to perfect your skills and decision making in battle. With this in mind, and the requirement to keep "Frontline General" somewhere in the title, and wanting to keep it simple, I had the following ideas for a name--- what are your thoughts/suggestions? Frontline General: Engagement Frontline General: Skirmish Frontline General: Tactical Command Frontline General: Tactics Also, I don't want to re-use a lot of the commonly used terms in wargame names such as "combat" or "battle" (but realize "Tactics and Command" are also pushing it). I'd like it to be unique. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! Oh, and if I choose the name you come up with- I'll set you up with a free copy (if you want one) when it goes to print.

my choice is
Frontline General: Tactical Command but I have to admit that Frontline General: Engagements will not be bad at all (but with the "s") ![]() ciao Riccardo |

Ok. So it is a short and relatively simple game with few units but with the possibility to add more units.
As far as the short and simple part is concerned i should vote for skirmish. As far as the adding of more units is concerned i should vote for engagement, although it does not cover the game fully. I like to add a new one combining skirmish and engagement so: SKIRMISH ENGAGEMENT That should cover it all i think. A short an fast playing game with the possibility to expand it to a more complex engagement. If i come up with another name you'll hear it!

Thanks, Frank. With the help of everyone who voted at BGG and by e-mail, I have decided on Frontline General: Spearpoint 1943. The focus is on frontline combat- the tip of the spear- or spearpoint of the battle.
I've been doing a lot of playtesting lately internally and it's really coming together well.
