American forces must run quickly to North, and first objective is Bari. Here they can establish new Port shipping facilities for next deployment phase.
They arrive in Bari without problem, German forces are at Foggia to defense Airfields and south is free. From here, American Units move to Foggia but near the city they found some problem because minefields and a collapsed bridge stop vehicle movement. In this time, when american tank and jeep are waiting Combat engineer units German forces call rinforcements from Peschici and new air forces with hard work to keep far from Foggia Sherman and Hellcat over the collapsed bridge. American forces must wait some turns to continue movement and in this time great air battle with allied Liberator and some german airplane as FW190,Stuka andHE111. American win air battle and the Liberator mission (bomb over german tank) help tank and rifle movement to foggia. Here, a first great battle send German units back to Foggia where during next turn of game (18) are definitely defeat TURN 1 In first turn of game American Units arrive in Taranto. This turn is dedicated to unload operation from LCVP US Production : Nr.1 M18 Hellcat with Crew, nr.1 Tank Hunter Squad, nr. 1 Rifle Squad German Production: Nr.2 MG42 Team, nr.1 Combat engineer TURN 2 American units start movement to Bari. They want a Port shipping facilities in the coastal city so the can use this as second renforcement point. Some americam tank wait and load 57mmAT GUN TURN 3 American Jeep Units arrive in Bari and in the same turn they use PUSH command card to increase speed movement of tanks to Bari. German player command a RUSH DEPLOYMENT. TURN 4 In Bari we have now a second PORT SHIPPING FACILITIES for american forces and from other side there are movement from Peschici to foggia. TURN 5 Two aircraft FW190A-3 start from From Foggia airfield and attack american tanks SHERMAN in Bari. FW190A-3 #1 defeat SHERMAN #3 and tank crew survive damnaged. Luftwaffe pilot of FW190A-3 #1 win experience star VIGILANT. Second aircraft defeat the tank crew of SHERMAN #3 but pilot don't add experience star. Good result for this fisrt aircraft mission for German, and aircraft come back to Foggia. ![]() First attack in Bari Now start american bomber mission from Sicily to Foggia. First Objective a PANZER and a TURRET EMPLACEMENT in Foggia. MUSTANG defeat Panther Turret Emplacement B24J Liberator #1 defeat 8,8cm Flack 36 B24j Liberator #2 miss PANZER IV In this time first american renforcement arrive in Bari(2 Rifle squad, 1 tank HELLCAT with Crew and one Tank Hunter Squad) TURN 6 American Event CODE BRAKING with no effects. Start second production phase: American Production: Nr.2 SHERMAN with crew. Nr 2 HALFTRACK e Nr2 105mm Howitzer and Artillery squad German production request : Nr. 2 JU87B-14 Stuka with crew, nr.1 Panzer V with crew. Bomb mission continue in Foggia and FW 190A-3 start in scramble mission to protect city and german tanks FW190A-3 #1 had some problem and remain damnaged during battle but FW190A-3 #2 defeat MUSTANG, Aircraft pilot of FW190A-3 #2 win VIGILANTS STAR. At the end of this mission the two aircraft return in Foggia. Second bombardment turn from american Liberator: B24J Liberator #1 defeat PANZER IV #1 but tank crew survive. B24j Liberator #2 defeat PANZER IV #1 and tank crew don't survive. A German Turret fire to Liberator and one of these is damnaged but may return in Sicily without other problem. TURN 7 The bridge on the road to Foggia is collapsed (Event) and this is a good situation for German player that may renforce Foggia. In this moment american force run to Foggia and German use special command RUSH DEPLOYMENT to call new aircraft in Foggia. in this turn german player repair FW190A-3 #1 that was damnaged during last combat phase and second aircraft FW190A-3 #2 try to stop HELLCAT movement. During battle, american tank defeat FW190A-3 #2, Pilot survive but was capturated from American side. TURN 8 American tanks stop near river 30 miles from Foggia and wait Combat Engineer Units. They must work on two Minefields and on collapsed bridge. German air forces JU87B-14 Stuka start to combat american tanks and artillery crew in movement to foggia. FW190A-3 #1 defeat l’Artillery Crew and pilot win Marksman experience star JU87B-14 Stuka #1 vs SHERMAN #1 fail mission and second aircraft JU87B-14 Stuka 2 combat and damage american SHERMAN #2. SHERMAN attack to German aircraft fail. they miss fire. TURN 9 Two american COMBAT ENGINEER squad clear zone from minefields so friendly vehicle may pass. A new aircraft mission from Foggia withe german air forces that wants to attack american tanks. FW190A-3 #1 defeat HELLCAT #7 and tank crew don't survive good attack for other german aircraft : JU87B-14 Stuka #1 damage SHERMAN #1 JU87B-14 Stuka #2 defeat SHERMAN #2 and his crew. TURN 10 From Sicily start second bomb mission from Liberator B24J Liberator #1 attack PANZER V but miss. B24j Liberator #2 defeat PANZER IV but tank crew survive 8.8cm flaK dond't damage american aircraft In this moment German aircraft start another attack vs american tanks JU87B-14 Stuka #1 defeat SHERMAN #1 and tank crew don't survive. Aircraft pilot win VIGILANT star. JU87B-14 Stuka #2 miss attack. New american renforcement arrive in Bari ( nr.2 Halftrack, nr.2 Sherman with crew, nr.2 105mm and artillery crew) TURN 11 MUSTANG try to attack german tank PANZER V #2 and win battle. Two german MG42 units open fire to MUSTANG and beat down american aircraft. MG42 # 1 is Veteran. Bombing mission continue but German turrets, this time, beat down one liberator B24J Liberator #1. Artillery crew is MARKSMAN. The other Liberator damage a german tank,PANZER V German JU87B-14 Stuka start flying mission but miss objective and third german aircraft enforce TANK HUNTER SQUAD to try withdraw. They miss this command and aircraft may do a bous attack that defeat american unit. In Bari HALFTRACK wait for tow operation (105 mm9 TURN 12 Bad event for american side that now must stop 5 vehicle. They are: SHERMAN #14, #5 e #2, and Jeep WILLYS #1 e #2, German player speed up renforcement operation with RUSH DEPLOYMENT Command TURN 13 From Foggia start a new flying mission with objective american units that cannot move. FW190A-3 #1 don't damage SHERMAN #2 and counterattack miss fire. JU87B-14 Stuka #1 don't damage SHERMAN #16 and third aircraft miss attack and SHERMAN #15 defeat him. Aircraft pilot didn't survive. Other two aircraft HE111H-6 try to attack HALFTRACK but they don't have success. Second HE111H-6 # will be damaged from Hellcat counterattack.. TURN 14 Start german air forces: FW190A-3 #1 defeat SHERMAN #2 SHERMAN #16 pull down JU87B-14 Stuka #1 and pilot don't survive. HE111H-6 #1 miss attack to HALFTRACK and a good counterattack pull down him. Same end for other HE111H-6 #2 that miss attack and is pull down from second halftrack. TURN 15 American bad event increase production cost. FW190A-3 #1 defeat 57mmAT Gun and first american Liberator americano miss bomb fire. Combat engineer squad repair collapsed bridge and american units may move to foggia. New renforcements in Bari for American side (N.3 tank Sherman, N.8 tank Hellcat, nr.1 Anti tank squad, nr.2 Rifle squad and Nr.1 8inch with related crew. TURN 16 First great battle near Foggia. Now bridge is repaired and american forces may attack directly by ground german units. American Units wint this first battle and enforce german units survival to withdraw in Foggia and wait renforcements. ![]() Battle near Foggia ![]() Battle with german aircraft and american Halftrack FW190A-3 #1 start and damage HALFTRACk #1. For Ground german units is a bad situation: SHERMAN #16 e PANZER V #1 battle but without damage HALFTRACk #2 e HALFTRACk #4 defeat the two german MG42 squads. Il PANZER IV #7 win battle with ShERMAN #14 but american RIFLE SQUAD defeat German TANK CREW and damage german COMBAT ENGINEER squad. German units must run in Foggia and wait renforcements. TURN 17 ![]() Arrive in foggia To support ground units arrive bomber aircraft from Sicily LIBERATOR #2 defeat PANZER VI #6 and MUSTANG defeat first FW190A-3 #1 in scramble mission and next defeat another german tank PANZER VI #9. Battle in Foggia continue and american forces are too strong for german units. Some minutes and Foggia is free... American Tank defeat PANZER V #1 and allied Rifle units defeat German rifle in foggia. Only PANZER IV #9 survive to HALFTRACK attack. Combat engineer squad partecipate to the battle and try to defeat some german rifle unit. TURN 18 Allied forces are now in Foggia and win final battle. Airfields is now ready for american air mission. |

Great AAR, sir! Thank you very much for the writeup and the photos- an enjoyable read, and a lot of work to track all of those details! Nice job.
That was quite a battle near the end! I picked up on one thing which is admittedly a bit obscure in the rules- Bullet weapons, such as the MG's on the German Fw 190s, actually cannot affect units that have armor of 2 or greater, as a general rule in the game. This prevents MGs from knocking out tanks, etc. So those 190's, if they seemed a bit too powerful, they probably were. Not a huge deal, just something for future games that you'll find limits their use in Air to Ground warfare to less-armored/non-armored targets for straffing missions. Thanks for the report!

probably there is some error during battle, I play this game to learn better rules. Consider that I have more difficults because I must translate rules in italian during play and sometimes it's not clear. for this reason during next days I have some question about rules where I need your help. I will post in a new discussion tomorrow! |
